This life is a spiritual battle.  When we are born, we are born in sin and on the side of Satan, the enemy of God.  When we repent of our sins and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are adopted into the family of God and we transfer by the Grace of God, to His side.  The battle, however, still continues throughout our lives.  The only way to make it through the battles, is to keep our eyes on our Commander, Jesus Christ and put on the armor He tells us abour in His Word (the Holy Bible).  Ephesians 6:10-20
